The Oxenham Arms

Perched on the edge of Dartmoor at the centre of one of Devon's prettiest villages, The Oxenham Arms was built in the 12th century and is one of the oldest inns in England. Set in its own gardens, an Elizabethan time-traveller would find many features unchanged - massive granite walls, heavy oak beams, low ceilings, granite mullion windows, great open fires, even the old carp-holding well in the..garden. Climb the oak staircase and you arrive at the seven beautifully proportioned bedrooms which combine treasured antiques and modern comforts, from Egyptian cotton sheets to bed throws using wool from the hotel's own Hebridean sheep. Burgoynes Restaurant is situated in the evocative Great Hall, and features wonderful food, beautifully cooked and stylishly presented. Relax in The Green Room, the new beauty therapy room which offers a wonderful menu of treatments from Indian head massage to aromatherapy.
